The work on the occupational safety and labor protection, on prevention of occupational injuries and occupational diseases is performed in OAO TATNEFT in accordance with the «System of providing for safe production activities in OAO TATNEFT» and the «Provision for production control of the occupational safety requirements observance at the hazardous production facilities of OAO TATNEFT».

The System of provision for safe production activities in OAO TATNEFT establishes uniform requirements to the components of the integrated management system of occupational, fire, power engineering and radiation safety and labor protection.

The Provision for production control of the occupational safety requirements observance at the hazardous production facilities of OAO TATNEFT establishes a uniform procedure in execution of production control in all structural divisions and affiliated entities of the Company providing for involvement of the senior professionals of the production services and departments into realization of the preventive measures.

For the purpose of improving the state of labor discipline and industrial safety as well as clarifying records management procedures and designing signs and pointers at the oil facilities of OAO TATNEFT the following standards have been developed: «Standard for design of OAO TATNEFT oil facilities» and «Organization Standard. Uniform documentation forms of work on industrial safety and labor protection in OAO TATNEFT».

Jointly with the Bureau Veritas Certification Company OAO TATNEFT has developed and adopted system-wide documents on the integrated management system for industrial safety, health and environment in accordance with international standards: ISO 14001:2004 on the same subject and the environmental safety and industrial safety and health OHSAS 18001:2007 Standard, covering the following:

For the purpose of improving the work on creation of safe and healthy working conditions at the work production facilities according to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation and the Recommendations for planning the labor protection measures in the structural divisions of the Company Labor Protection Contracts are concluded on an annual basis. These Contracts are deemed as appendices to the Collective Agreement of OAO TATNEFT.

The occupational safety policy and labor protection are maintained by the complex of corporate IT systems. The automatic process control system (ASU TP) secures technological safety by means of automated performance of industrial processes and remote control of the facilities without continuous presence of the personnel.

The industrial processes in drilling, workover and remedial wells repair of are controlled using the system of video monitoring, which considerably increases the technological and industrial discipline at the facilities.

In 2008 the satellite monitoring system and organizational technical activities prevented from any road accidents with the Company's transport equipped with this system.

There are automatic fire alarm and automatic fire extinguishing systems in operation at the facilities for fire safety security. The fire alarm signals are transmitted from all refining facilities to the control panel in the fire department via the radio channel, which reduced the number of false alarm signals two-fold.

Certification of engineering and technical personnel of the Company in labor protection and occupational safety is carried out using information technologies.
