OAO TATNEFT obtained the right for exploration and development of oil, gas, and condensate fields through participation in tenders, as well as through purchase of a part of business of oil companies in the Samara and Orenburg Regions, Nenets Autonomous District, and the Republic of Kalmykia.
There are 11 associated and affiliate oil companies which have been set up with participation of OAO TATNEFT:

According to the latest data, in 2009 the company operated 19 oil fields with 45 wells in Samara Region and 5 wells in Orenburg Region. When the earlier drilled well stock was completed, new wells were drilled in Samara. Production rates of the new wells reached up to 11.9 tons per day.
Perfomance of the geological exploration program was continued in the territory of contractual sites of ОАО TATNEFT in Syria and Libya. Four geological exploration wells were drilled in syria. Drilling of appraisal well South Kishma - 2 was started. Commercial discovery of the South Kishma oil field was announced in December 2009.
At the same time two exploration wells were drilled in Area 82-4 in Lybia with commercial oil flows received. Drilling of the first explorarion well was started in Area 82-1.
