TATNEFT received an essential effect from the invention and innovation activities of TATNEFT employees in 2011.
10,852 innovators and inventors of the Company introduced 10,174 rationalization proposals, 185 inventions and 88 utility models over the past year.
The importance of invention and innovation activities of OAO TATNEFT's specialists is from year to year evidenced by the high state awards.
9 specialists of the Company were awarded the title "Engineer of the Year" based of the results of the XI-th All-Russian contest "Engineer of the Year" in 2011, while the title "Professional Engineer of Russia" was awarded to 6 persons
Developments of OAO TATNEFT received 14 awards, including 8 gold ones, at the XIV-th "Archimedes" International Salon of inventions and innovative technologies in Moscow.
The title "Laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan in the field of science and technology" was awarded to a group of authors from OAO TATNEFT in 2011 along with awarding the State Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan in the field of science and technology for the work "Restructuring of OAO TATNEFT: methodology and practice".
11 projects of TATNEFT Company were recognized the winners of the VII-th Republican Contest "Top 50 Innovative Ideas for the Republic of Tatarstan"

President of Tatarstan Held a Meeting in Nizhnekamsk
Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, visited the Refining and Petrochemical Plants Complex (NPiNHZ) in Nizhnekamsk (Republic of Tatarstan). A meeting of a standing committee on labor safety was held at OAO TATNEFT with participation of its structural divisions and management companies on the results of operation in 2011 and the main areas of organizational and technical work on the industrial and fire safety, occupational safety, industrial inspection, prevention of occupational injuries and accidents. The annual forum was also attended by representatives of regulatory bodies: Rostekhnadzor (Russian Federal Service for Ecological, Technical and Atomic Supervision), Rospotrebnadzor (Russian Federal Consumer Rights Protection and Human Health Control Service) and the State Labor Inspectorate of the Republic of Tatarstan and others. - 17.02.2012

Modern Technologies for Drilling Horizontal Wells of Small Diameter
TATNEFT Company has successfully drilled wells of small diameter with horizontal wellbore completion. The wells with horizontal wellbores following the TatNIPIneft design have been constructed for NGDU "Nurlatneft" (productive Bashkirian layer of Ashalchinskoye field) and for NGDU "Almetyevneft" (productive Tournaisian layer of Romashkinskoye field).
