PDK, MPC (ПДК) — maximum permissible concentration.

PDV, MPE (ПДВ) — maximum permissible emissions. The regulated norm is the maximum permissible emission of harmful (polluting) substances in the air. It is established for each stationary source of air pollution, taking into account technical standards of emissions and background air pollution. The condition is that the source of pollution does not exceed sanitation and environmental standards for ambient air quality, maximum allowable (critical) ecosystem load, as well as other environmental regulations.

PETF (ПЭТФ) — polyethylene terephthalate.

PNI (ПНИ) — polyethylene external insulation.

PNP, EOR (ПНП) — enhanced oil recovery.

SZZ (СЗЗ) — sanitary protection zone. Zone between industrial facilities and nearest residential or public buildings. The purpose of SPZ is protection of the population from the effects of harmful factors (noise, dust, gases and other harmful emissions containing industrial poisons).

II. Definitions

Affiliate — a natural or legal person capable of influencing activities of legal persons and/or individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activity.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR, corporate responsibility, responsible business, corporate social opportunity) — voluntarily accepted by the company responsibility for the impact of its activities on customers, suppliers, employees, shareholders, communities and other stakeholders, as well as on the environment (corporate environmental responsibility).

ISO 14001:2004 — International Standard ISO 14000 regulating environmental management system organization. It contains a set of requirements for environmental management systems.

ISO 9001:2000 — International Standard ISO 9000 regulating quality control (quality management) in companies. Contains a set of requirements for quality management systems. The current version of the standard is “ISO 9001:2008. Quality management systems. Requirements”.

LTP Trade — Trade and Finance Company (London, UK).

“Miller & Lents” — the international consulting firm providing services in the field of exploration and development of oil and gas fields (Houston, USA).

Petrochemical unit — a complex of Company’s subdivisions manufacturing petrochemical products.

Renewable reserves ratio — the ratio of raw materials stock growth to their production for a given period.

Risk management — process of adoption and implementation of management decisions aimed at reducing likelihood of adverse outcome and minimizing potential losses caused by its implementation.

Russian Accounting Standards — financial reporting organization for Russia's accounting standards.

SAP R/3 — integrated automated control system developed by SAP.

SEC — Securities and Exchange Commission, USA.

Service unit — a complex of projects and individual service systems dealing with direct (online) interaction between the state and the population and/or business community.

SPE — Society of Petroleum Engineers, USA.

U.S. GAAP — financial statements of organization according to generally accepted accounting principles used by US companies or traded on Wall Street.

Vertically integrated companies — companies united through a hierarchy with a common owner. As a rule, all members of the hierarchy produce certain products or provide services to meet common needs (for example, a car maker would be integrated with an auto parts manufacturer).

Volatility — financial indicator demonstrating volatility tendency of market prices or income.

Xetra (“Exchange Electronic Trading”) — a worldwide electronic securities trading system. Based in Frankfurt, Germany. Operated by Deutsche Börse.
